Reclining Seats

is it possible to clean (flattened) microfiber (recliner)?

i would like to purchase 2 used microfiber lazboy recliners. the microfiber has kinda matted down where the persons had their (greasy) head. also where their legs rested. it is not so bad. this is why i am hopeful that with professional ulpolstery cleaning, that the chairs can be saved. the sellers want 300bucks for each chair, this is why i am writing. i do not want to take a chance if the chairs won't come back to very-good looking condition. i would like to know if there are any professional cleaners whom might have a comment. thank you.

  1. Microfibers are easily cleaned up with any bleach solution admixed with a drapery refreshing liquid. If they are become oily or greasy alike you will have to use a strong bleach or liquid ammonia - or you can use a dilute form of potassium permanganate.
  2. A professional cleaner will be able to remove the grease spots, but you should price shop a bit. Microfiber recliners can be purchased for $350 NEW. "La-Z-Boy" in particular may be $450, but name isn't everything in a recliner. Offer $500 for the pair but no more, seriously. Check out brands such as "Ashley" and "Best" or even "Berkline" before you buy and try to restore these used recliners.
  3. Some microsuede you can clean with a steam cleaner or spot clean. You will need to do a test on the fabric to see if you can clean it. Be careful with what product you uses (neutral PH carpet cleaning solution is good from a carpet cleaner rental place) First you will need to do is a test. To do the test spray the cleaner, using the back edge of the cushion spray a spot about the size of a quarter and wipe it with a white towel and let it dry on it’s own. If you get colour transfer onto the towel it is not safe to clean. If there is no change in colour and no watermark then it is safe to clean or spot clean. If there is a watermark but no colour change it is safe to clean only thing is you will need to clean the whole thing.( to stop watermarks) you can not spot clean. If you decide to clean it DO NOT do a lot of scrubbing on the fabric because you can damage the hair that is on the fabric. If you decide to spot clean only you can use a hair dryer to speed up the drying (less chance of leaving a watermark). If you clean the whole sofa you are probably best to set up a fan to help dry the sofa. Hope this helps Carpet cleaner for 14 years
