Reclining Seats

My sofa moves on the floor, no carpet underneath, what can I do to make it immovable and constant?

Its hard to sit on the sofa, as it slids back when we try to sit on it. I am redecorating my living room, so I need to put something under the sofa legs to make it stand still. Help please. Also, suggest what more to add to living room. I only have flat tv, tv stand, a chair, sofa, tea pot, a lot of empty space and dining table behind the sofa. I am going to add painting frames on the walls. Suggest any thing else that I can try to add. Thankx.

  1. A nice well made Area Rug would do the trick and add to your decor. Use one of the no-slip rug pads under the rug. but ,if that is not in your budget or you don't care for the rugs, the hard ware store, or big box retailer sells little clear rubber "stoppers" I guess would be the word. They have a peal off paper side with sticky glue underneath that you can stick onto the feet of your sofa. Suggestions for the empty space: Add a sofa table, a cocktail table, side tables and lamps. Along with the rug, this should fill up your empty space and add homeyness to your living space.
  2. Most hardware stores carry 4 pack packages of little rubber cup-like coasters that will help keep your sofa firmly in place and prevent any sliding- unfortunately, I cannot recollect offhand just what they are called. However, if you go into any hardware store and describe the probelm you are trying to eliminate, they will be able to direct you to them. Artificial plants are a good way to fill up blank spaces as are wall decor items, such as sconces and pictures. If your walls are painted white, you can try repainting them in a warmer color- that is complementary to your sofa color. Or you can simply sponge one of your favorite colors onto walls that are painted white. Even if you've never sponged before, it's easy and looks great when done. You can also purchase a small area rug that has some of the same color as your walls and/or sofa. Doing that will help to tie the room together- and you can accessorize your sofa and/or chair with throw pillows in either similar or contrasting colors- and perhaps throw a colorful afghan over the back of your sofa or chair. On the table behind your sofa, you can place a colorful table runner with some candles and place silk flowers in your teapot. Whatever colors you decide to use- just make sure they complement one another. Warmer colors such as gold, green, orange, red, brown and rust will make your room feel cozier- colors such as blue, gray, pale green, black, white, & violet will make your room seem cooler. Have fun decorating!!
